A Day in Cambridge (Postponed new date awaited)

Smaller and more compact than Oxford, Cambridge is a cultured pearl in a rich agricultural sea.
Set on a river bend, Cambridge has kept its rural feel with cattle grazing within 500 yards of the market square. Our full day in Cambridge includes visits to the American Cemetery, a short entertaining stroll to explore the Senate House, some of the University colleges including Kings College Chapel with a later return to Kings for Choral Evensong.

We meet our guide at 10.30am and enjoy morning refreshments before a panoramic coach tour of Cambridge which will include a stop at the tranquil American Military Cemetery to see a mural map of the war in Europe.  The inside of the memorial building at Cambridge American Cemetery includes a beautiful ceiling mosaic, a map showing military operations based out of England, and a chapel area.

Next we venture on a short and entertaining stroll to explore some of the University colleges and the Senate House.

An optional lunch can be enjoyed at the Cambridge Chop House.  This will be a two course meal with tea or coffee and they do cater for vegetarians and all dietary requirements too.

In the afternoon there’s free time to explore as well as an intimate guided tour of the soaring perpendicular treasure that is King’s College Chapel.

We’ll visit the lost college of Michaelhouse to buy tea before returning to Kings College Chapel to enjoy the heavenly voices of the world famous choir at Choral Evensong and head home at 6.45pm.

PS – ‘Cows about Cambridge’ is a spectacular public art event that weaves its way across the city from 30 March until 6 June 2020. There will be 40 cow sculptures, each one individually designed by an artist and sponsored by a business, forming a free, fun, family-friendly trail of discovery for local people to explore and enjoy. The 4o large sculptures will be auctioned to raise vital funds for local children’s charity, Break.

The cost of this event includes luxury coach transport, your blue badge guide for the day, all entry fees, an optional two course lunch with tea or coffee and, of course, treats.
