About this excursion

Join us for an wonderful day exploring Royal London, ancient and modern on an interesting coach tour looking at birth places, residences, scandals and successes with very knowledgeable and entertaining Blue Badge Guide.

On arrival in London you can enjoy morning coffee at St Paul’s Cathedral crypt and we are also including a roast chicken lunch at the Mad Hatter Hotel, with tea or coffee after the coach tour. Our afternoon will be spent visiting the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace where this year’s summer exhibition will be ‘Royal Childhood’. There will be time for tea in the Palace garden before we leave for home.

When HM The Queen makes her summer visit to Scotland, nineteen State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are opened to visitors. The State Rooms are lavishly furnished with some of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection – paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto, exquisite Sevres porcelain, fine English and French furniture.

An optional audio guide is included in the price and our guide will be on hand to answer your questions. The tour ends with a short walk in the Palace garden, a ‘walled oasis in the middle of London’ with splendid views of the Palace and famous lake.

The cost of this event includes luxury transport, morning coffee, your lunch with tea/coffee, the tour of London, entry to the Palace State Rooms and, of course, treats.

NB Please note there is only one place to sit down in the Palace and this is about half way round in the Ballroom. There is also a long path through the garden to reach the exit, so if you think you will find this challenging, please let us know in advance as there is a fixed allocation each day for wheelchair and rollator entry. If we are early enough we may be able to arrange hire of a rollator for you.
