(From £1399 per person) Book your space with us on this wonderful cruise when the ‘Solar Max’ is at its peak and likely to offer some absolutely spectacular aurora displays. We’re sailing For 16 nights on the Boudicca and have arranged this cruise with our friends at award-winning Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. Apart from comfortable en-suite accommodation, all meals and entertainment, we are including coach transfers for you from Milton Keynes to and from the port of Southampton and a welcome drinks party on arrival.

The Solar Maximum, the Aurora Borealis at its peak, occurs roughly every 11 years and when this happens, the Northern Lights provide some of the most stunning dramatic skies. With NASA’s announcement of double peak ‘Solar Max’ in late 2013 and again in 2015 the coming winter seasons are likely to offer some superb displays and this is possibly your last chance for another 11 years to see them.

You can choose from a wide variety of optional tours so you can tailor your cruise holiday to meet your particular interests and hobbies.

Travelling to Norway in winter is an extraordinary experience and an adventurous sixteen nights in this stunning country is topped off by a chance to seek out the elusive Aurora Borealis. This wonderful display of dancing lights is spectacular to witness.

After a stop in Alesund, you will be able to marvel at awe-inspiring scenery as you cruise along the Norwegian coast before spending two nights in the Arctic city of Tromsø, known as the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’. A chance to try dog sledding or see the city which boasts stunning views from Mount Storsteinen, and is one of the best places to search for the Aurora Borealis.

From here, you can enjoy an overnight stay in Alta where you can discover the fascinating Sami culture, explore the Alta Museum, visit the fascinating Ice Hotel, close by or try some reindeer sledding.

Molde is your next port of call, known as the town of roses and jazz, where you can see the statue of the Little Rose Seller, and the Romsdal Outdoor Museum. For something a little different, try a tour on the Rauma Railway, which passes through breathtaking scenery en-route to the famous Troll Mountains.

Your final port of call on this amazing cruise holiday is attractive Bergen, where the colouful timber houses and cobbled streets are waiting to be explored, as is the former home of Norway’s most famous composer, Edvard Grieg.
