About this excursion

Thursford Christmas Spectacular

£340 per person

Once again we shall be visiting the spectacular Christmas show at Thursford in Norfolk.   This is Britain’s biggest and most exciting Christmas show and it includes  dazzling dancers, beautiful costumes, songs and carols.   We have excellent tickets in the front centre section of the theatre.

This pageant of spectacle and colour features seamless musical transitions, from up-beat dance routines to choral renditions of Christmas carols, and the cast of over 130 professional West End performers create an amazing production. Make the most of your Thursford experience with time for some Christmas shopping: traditional Norfolk farm buildings have been turned into Dickensian-style shops offering thousands of different gifts, as well as an ice cream parlour & tea shop plus the famous ‘Christmas shop’. Stained Glass Museum Located in Ely Cathedral, the Stained Glass Museum boasts a nationally significant collection of stained glass, associated designs, materials and tools from the 13th century to present day. The spectacular collection is a fascinating insight and shows the development of this unique art form through the ages.

Pheasant Hotel, Kelling

The Pheasant Country Hotel & Inn, Kelling

We have a new hotel this time and I’m advised it’s much better than the last one. We’ll be staying for one night in the Pheasant Hotel in Kelling, Norfolk.  Situated in 2 acres of landscaped gardens, this Georgian country house hotel offers bright, airy rooms in a peaceful setting. Fresh local produce is served in the hotel restaurant.  The hotel’s welcoming lounge & bar with comfortable seating is the perfect place to unwind with a drink at the end of the day.

East Anglia’s cultural heritage is highlighted at this festive time of year with included visits to the following:

Ickworth

Charmingly situated, this Georgian palace was commissioned to house the treasures collected by the 4th Earl of Bristol on his tours around Europe. The elegant Rotunda showcases an exquisite collection of artefacts accumulated by the Hervey family over 200 years, as well as portraits by Gainsborough, Hogarth and Reynolds. Within the tranquil grounds of the property is the earliest Italianate Garden in England.

Tour of Ely Cathedral

First established as a monastery by St Etheldreda in AD673, it’s fair to say there is a lot of history at Ely Cathedral! Prepare to be impressed by the painted wooden ceiling in the Nave and the truly stunning stained glass in The Octagon, a wonder of the medieval world, whilst the Lady Chapel, once alive with colourful glass and statues, is now a place of light and wonder.

Stained Glass Museum

Located in Ely Cathedral, the Stained Glass Museum boasts a nationally significant collection of stained glass, associated designs, materials and tools from the 13th century to present day. The spectacular collection is a fascinating insight and shows the development of this unique art form through the ages.
