Itinerary

August 25th

Isles of ScillySt Marys

St. Mary’s, the largest of the five inhabited islands that make up The Isles of Scilly archipelago, offers a fascinating heritage, where traces of life go back at least eight centuries. The entire archipelago is a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Marine Conservation Zone, where there is an abundance of marine life and migrant birds, such as Atlantic grey seals, gannets and comorants, and even puffins, from April onwards

August 26th

St Peter Port, GuernseySt-Peter-Port

Main port town of the Channel Islands, St. Peter Port is picturesque and historic, and has much evidence of Georgian and Regency architecture, heavily influenced by the French. Occupied by the Germans during World War II, it is surprising that so many of the town’s historic fortifications still stand today; 800 year old Castle Cornet is one such building that has seen many conflicts and holds many artefacts from over the centuries.

Cruise by Brecqhou

To the east of Guernsey is the tiny island of Brecqhou, and although geographically detached from its neighbouring island, it is considered politically to be part of Sark. Brecqhou is famously linked to David and Frederick Barclay, the reclusive identical twin brother billionaires. The island was home to a stone manor house when the Barclays took it over in 1993, but they demolished it to make space for Fort Brecqhou, which can be seen from its position on a high cliff.

Cruise by SarkSark

The island of Sark in the Channel Islands, was named the world’s first ‘Dark Sky Island’, thanks to its lack of any light-polluting street lamps. Considered to be the crown jewel of the Channel Islands, Sark is nestled between Guernsey and Jersey, with neighbouring Brecqhou close-by. This unspoiled land emerges from the Channel with spectacular cliffs, rocky coves and eye-catching bays, and its countryside scenes are similar to a patchwork quilt of green fields draped over undulating landscapes.

Cruise by Alderney

The diverse landscapes of Alderney are a haven for various species of flora and fauna, historical sites, aquamarine waters and unique island charms. Flat farmlands are fronted by golden beaches, and cliff-top fortifications overlook craggy cliffs, protecting the island’s natural harbours and coves. Alderney is home to large numbers of seabirds such as gannets and puffins, and pods of dolphins are often spotted enjoying the warm waters.

August 27th

 Honfleur, FranceHonfleur

Originally occupied in the 9th century by the Vikings, the charming town of Honfleur has attracted artists for many years, with masterpieces housed in its museums and art galleries. Under the guidance of Eugène Boudin, a young Claude Monet and his friend Alfred Sisley began studying light effects and painting landscapes outdoors, rather than from memory, trailblazing for artists of the future.
