About this excursion

From the creators of Les Miserables comes the long awaited West End revival of Miss Saigon, the epic love story of an American GI’s marriage to a Vietnamese bar girl at the end of the Vietnam War. If you loved Les Mis then composers Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil’s updated re-imagining of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly is sure to arouse just as passionate a response.

Join us for this wonderful show at the Prince Edward Theatre. We have top-price tickets in the Dress Circle for the 7.30pm performance of this magical musical. The show returns to London’s West End on 3rd May 2014 and we are delighted to have tickets for the 14th July evening performance.

Before the show you could enjoy a two-course dinner with wine + tea or coffee at our favourite London restaurant – Christopher’s Grill in Covent Garden We are offering this as an optional extra for £30 per person.

It’s original London engagement ran for 4000 performances over ten years. It won two Olivier Wards before closing in 1999 and has since played to similar success in theatres in major cities all over the world and on tour. It remains the eleventh longest-running Broadway musical in history. If you’ve yet to experience it, a visit to this sumptuous new production is a must.

The story is based in 1975 in the final days of the US Military evacuation of Vietnam. American GI Chris receives from his friend a ‘gift’ for the night of Kim, a Vietnamese bar girl. Unknown to Chris and Kim it’s a night that will change their lives forever. Kim was forced to flee her village when her family was killed. Her only option was to work in a sleazy Saigon night club owned by an unsavoury proprietor called The Engineer. It’s here she first meets Chris.

Struggling with cultural differences the pair commence an intense affair. When Chris is evacuated back to the USA their love seems doomed. Believing Kim has been killed, Chris marries an American woman. However, three years later he discovers that Kim and the son she has borne him without his knowledge are still alive. Kim is determined that their child will have a better life in America and she will sacrifice anything to ensure it.

This show is suitable for ages 12+ due to mature themes in the programme.
